Radio squelching, is a kind of noise gate, so when the signal is
below a certain strength, you hear nothing. (that is, in practice,
when the signal you wnt to hear isn't transmitting, you don't have
continual crackles and hash in the background).
When people say a filter sounds 'squelchy" they mean it sounds
like when someone wearing rubber boots stands on a frog.

Google tells about radio reciever squelching, but what does the word mean in an analogue filter? People say the 303 filter is "squelchy", but does have anything to do with the radio term?
