[sdiy] VCO IC

Hi gang,
I was looking for a simple VCO capable of two, maybe three waveforms so I
could build a function generator to test VCAs and whatnot. At first I
thought about building two simple VCOs, linear FM only (no tempcos, no
exponential converters) and a switch to choose between three frequency
ranges. Then I came across this IC, XR-8038A:

Has anyone played with one of these? I mean, as a "proper" VCO?
