I will agree that this is transitor abuse, mostly due to the lack of
any biasing, but I think it would be worth the time to play with it a
little more like it is just to see how the shunt feedback sounds. Slip a
resistor in between the diodes and the base of the transistor and play
with the value and see what you get.
Hey, can't hurt - is 15 minutes and a resistor worth the chance of
something innovative?
