The best would be a 1N34 :^P
1N34 is a germanium diode, and this is the most
common part number still in existence. 1N60
is another possible.
It depends on what characteristic of the 1N34 is
important. If it is low forward voltage drop...
I'd suggest the 1N5817 Shottkey Diode.
