Great rejoycing!
My senior-level special topics class proposal, "Theory and Design of Music
Synthesizers," has been approved for Spring 2006! Hooray hooray!
4:30-6:00, Mondays and Wednesdays.
I've been looking to get into SDIY for a long time, and the only way I
could think of to make time to do it was to make it part of my job. :)
Analog content: first 1/3 will be covering music synthesis by analog
circuits! second 1/3 will be digital synthesis, and last 1/3 will be on
physical modeling (at least as I have it planned out now.) I'm not aware
of any other music synthesis class at any other university that
specifically has a section on analog circuitry.
Among other things, I plan to get some MOTM modules and make the class
build them.
I'm going to be putting up a webpage with class notes and powerpoint and
such. I'll let you know when I have that going.
