Wrong. It's physical modelling using a simplified version of finite element 
analysis. The 3D comes from the fact that the software calculates how 
distortions propagate through a simulated physical model of an object.

It's clever but it's not actually all that original. There was a Linux 
package doing something similar for simple shapes doing the rounds about 
five years ago.
