(Maybe I wasn't clear on this..so I'll post it for all to see. )

THanks Paul..but yeah I know how a battery b/u works. On my web page
you'll find details of a special case of the SCI Multi-Trak where if the
battery dies and you remove it, you can program sounds all day long and
it works GREAT until..you shut if off and they are lost in SRAM of
course. SRAM requires a b/u battery as we know.

HOWEVER>.once you put the battery IN to the M/T.....trouble. You can't
get sound out of it anymore. It initiates some kind of check sum or
something and if you don't have the sounds in there already forget it.

Not so with like the Split-Eight. That machine can be programmed from
scratch. There's a full account on my web page of the conversation I
had with the punk 'tech' at wine country where they led me to utter
confusion on this matter because they wouldn't simply TELL me this.
They offered to sell me factory patches when I inquired about the
strange thing I was hearing and I was like "uhh..no I know it has to
have patches in it and I can program them by hand and I'm still not
getting any sound out..." and the guy sat there and said nothing. And
I wound up damaging something in the process of trying to figure out
what the problem was and it's sat there every since. Surely SOME day
they'll get a conscience and send me a GOOD DIGITAL BOARD for it since
they literally deceived me. But that's asking a lot I know. . -Bob
