Might be worth taking a look at the voltage present at the op amp (-)
input - it might not be sitting steadily at zero volts at virtual ground -
could be spiking briefly during the reset time if the op amp isn't fast
enough to keep the servo loop closed. If the (-) input went just a couple of
hundred mV below ground it would be enough to make the FET conduct quite a
bit more current.
