[sdiy] Modular sampler/sample playback

I'd love to see a modular vc sampler with a small memory enough for say a drumkit, short loops or some single cycle waves, non volatile memory, msd, and vc pitch, startpoint, loop points, foreward/reverse, bit reduction, something specwise similar to an Akai s612 or even casio sk1. A cf cardslot would be nice as would an LCD but neither would be essential. Anyone know of anything or in the process of designing something?
