Cole:

You should wire it as if you're looking at the top (component) side  
of the board, and looking at the back of the pot, with the lugs  
facing the board. For the output, just take the one pad, and put it  
on the tip lug of the jack. For the ring lug, connect to ground.

(The Psycho was my first DIY too!)
