I sometimes use displays with built in binary to hex decoder and driver
like TIL311 or HP 5083-7240. The HP 5082-7300 even has a built in binary
to decimal decoder.
This type of old display are somewhat hard to find but when i find them
i often find a full tube for almost nothing.

Thanks for the lead on the 9368, looks like it's the answer for hex,
but has
been discontinued... The search continues...
