[sdiy] Trigger pulse length

I want to be able to extend the length of the pulse of the trig out from my various drum machines, ideally I'd like to be able to do so without resorting to a complicated circuit, can this be done with just a capacitor or something? Ideally I'd like to build it into a lead or a small box with a jack in and jack out and if built into a box maybe use a pot to adjust the length? Has anyone else done this? 

It would be nice to be able to turn it into a short gate pulse but the focus is on simplicity (no psu or pcb would be great!)
