The main problem with those plastic breadboards, is that heavy items like
pots are hard to deal with, even after you solder the right size wires on,
they fall out from the weight. But, here's how to get around it:

Like any tool, a breadboard stays useful only if you treat it right. That
means, no jamming in wires that are too big & wrecking the grip in the
holes. And no spilling coke in them.....
BTW, the solid wires inside telephone cables are ideal for links in
breadboards.
