[sdiy] pd650 - do all the Roland applicaitons use an identical chip?

It *is* possible somehow. Somebody already did, but got carried away. 
Instead of a simple replacement, he went overboard and completely 
re-wrote the firmware, not only added plenty of control functions, 
but also a character display and mo' knobs.
Useless for repair purpose now, it has become an expensive and very 
time-consuming DIY project. And one that's not recommended for 
beginners.
