Could some clever person not sample all the possible inputs and outputs from
the cpu, reverse engineer it then use a modern device such as a pic built
onto a little daughter board as a drop in replacement. The code for these TB
and TR devices must be pretty simple and it would just be a case of the same
device used for all the TR's and the TB but with the appropriate code, also
enhancements could be added such as swing, randomise, shift back/foreward in
time, step mute, remix, copy, paste, reverse/pendulum/random playback etc
Even some form of data backup could be added maybe even tape dump!
I bet there would be quite a good market for this, I'd pay £50 for each of
my machines to have enhanced CPU's (606,808 and 303) and I bet many others
would too.
Maybe its not viable though, I don't know.
