1) Sample and Hold.  Depending on what you're trying to do it may not 
even be advisable to use a PCB for those.

2) High Frequency circuits of any sort unless the socket is for that 
specific application _and_ the circuit takes the socket parasitics into 
account.

3) Anything that should work reliably while and after being submitted to 
adverse environmental conditions: dust, humidity, extreme heat or cold, 
temperature cycles.

This assumes you use good (machined pin) sockets.  The cheap ones are 
only good to save the Pins of ICs from bending while you're working on 
breadboard.
