[sdiy] When NOT to use sockets for chips ?

1) High-G environments like military jets etc.
2) Extraterrestrial apps (space flight)
3) Places where the additional parasitic capacitance and inductance
might be an issue - RF circuits
4) VERY high impedance circuits (this 'may' include some sample/hold
apps where
guard rings on the PCB are in use
5) Anytime you would rather throw an assembly away than repair it easily
6) Anytime you would really like to 'bust a nut' troubleshooting a PCB
(ie. use sockets whenever you like for s-diy :^)
