[sdiy] When NOT to use sockets for chips ?

i can't really think of a reason why sockets would be a bad thing...
instances where sockets aren't really needed are pretty obvious [ie...
anything you won't need to replace or test different chips], but unless you
had some wonky cheap sockets i don't think it would ever be a problem... how
about in the case where you need to keep costs to a minimum :P
