[sdiy] Linear vs audio taper

Getting ready to order pots for my 3394 project synth. Should I be using linear taper types for most panel accessable pots? I would assume so but thought I'd ask before I place an order.

Also, still looking for a 8279p-2 (or equiv.) 40 pin switch matrix interface/display driver ic for repairing an Akai ax-80. Ideas?
