[sdiy] SSM2044 questions

Hi.

Maplin in the UK used to make a kit for a 2044 VCF, with a pcb and all the
parts. (for £10.95 - think what you'd have to pay now just for the chip!)

I bought 2 kits, but never made them. I've still got the pbcs, and the
original data/construction sheets. There is also a component placement
diagram, foil pattern, and some photos. It uses a TL071, and a LM833N.
The circuit looks pretty simple, runs off single or split supplies, and has
VC of the cutoff. Looking at the schemo, VC resonance looks possible. These
might be worth including in your box so you can modulate it with external
fun devices.

I seem to remember that there was a bug in the pcb somewhere - but can't
remember the details.

If you're interested, when I get some time and am anywhere near a scanner, I
can send them to you. (the schemos - not the chips :-)

I'm sure I'll need to amplify the audio input but would I also add some

sort of amplification on the output? I've also toyed with the idea of a
simple 555 LFO to modulate things a bit.
