You might have some troubles with power usage and noise with the scanning
LED array. Filters, or no... you will never use it in direct sunlight. It
would probably
not work in very bright light either.

Did anyone see the Axcel Re-synthesizer touchpanel ? LEDs rear mounted in a
PTH
circuit board with touch contacts. This would not cost much money these
days, and would be MUCH more robust.
