If you happen to have a copy of the CMOS Cookbook ( I have 3, 1 next to the
bed, one next to the toilet, and one on the workbench.. Sad I realise )
there is blurb in the back about creating waveforms from rings of flip-flops
that also has tables of resistor values and is just generally nifty to look
at for a simple DCO design.  Might be a good starting point.
