My perspective differs here. Manuals should always be available, but
copies *need* to be advertised as such. I have often seen obvious
copies which made no mention that they were not the original documents.
Of course if a manual is still available from the manufacturer there is
no reason to pay for (often) crappy copies. But there is gear which I
never been able to find manuals to. I wish somebody would copy those!
