That can probably be done. This leveler might very well be tweaking the
clockrate in an analogue way. You could poke around with a scope to
see what it does.
Maybe you can find a way to make it go a lot slower.

Skipping is often caused by loosing track. Not as nice as screwing up
addressing in a memory bank, I guess.

I don't tend to worry when the PSU lives on a separate board, which is usually
the case.
