That, I'm well aware of---as are most people familiar with Linux.
Still, Linux looks like a UN*X, works like a UN*X and acts like a
UN*X, even though, like FreeBSD, it doesn't contain proprietary AT&T
source code and isn't, technically, UN*X. So, without picking nits,
it's basically a flavor of UN*X even though it isn't truly UN*X, or,
with picking nits, and keeping the guardians of the UN*X TM happy,
it's a UN*X-like operating system. As most UN*X hackers know, Linux
is obviously far different in many ways from the the "One True UN*X,"
namely 7th Edition UN*X... but it still has some things in common with
that. Have I confused anyone yet? :-)
