Conformity sucks. Why must something need to be compatible with
rubbish to be perceived as being any good?
Remember, the GUI of Linux, depending upon the window manager being
used, can do quite a bit of shapeshifting... it can look and function
like nearly any GUI. Why anyone would want it to resemble Micro$oft
Windoze, however, which is very annoying, is beyond me---if that's
what you're referring to. Besides, no matter what, with Linux you
always have access to the most useful of interfaces: shell prompts!
Anyway, Linux is highly compatible with the rest of the world---with
the internet, that is. Remember, UNIX systems were alive and happy,
and formed a large percentage of the systems on the internet, back in
the days when VAXen, Suns, etc. ruled the 'net, long before Microsoft
figured out what the internet was and before IBM PCs had protected
memory and could run truly useful operating systems.
