OK, but sorry your both wrong; you can easly configure most GUI's for 
LINX (rember, its an OS not a GUI) like KDE to exactly emaulate 
Windozzz, and as far as your install goes, nothing in the Linux 
installer can blow out your BIOS, this just happend at the same time. 
I've installed many Linux systems of all types (Red Hat, SuSE etc) and 
never had this problem.
