You are loking at "absolute maximum ratings"
You can pass a voltage almost equal to, but BELOW
Vdd. If you go above Vdd you will possibly activate
protection diodes and proper operation cannot be
assured.
DO NOT go into the 'small safety margin' region by
design.
The linearity of the switch changes with applied
voltage... so for an audio signal you should keep
the voltage level MUCH less than the possible 0-9V
in your scenario.

As the electronics newbee i am, i'm trying to
understand the 4066 datasheet.
Is it correct if i think that the voltage that can be
switched on / off with the 4 switches depends on the
supply voltage to the 4066, and is almost equal to it.
So if i supply the 4066 from a 9 volt source (vdd) i
can switch up to 9.5 volts (if vss is 0).
So basically the voltage that can be applied to the 4
switches is the supply voltage + " a small saftey
margin".
