Well, at first i had it working, though as a VCA. Then
i somehow managed to totally fry the op.amp + 1 of the
transistors. Later i was going to desolder a resistor
to do some measuring but while trying to lift it it
snapped in half, it was completely burned out. After
replacing all that, using the instructions of Tim
Stinchcombe regarding what to expect at the output of
the expo-converter i was back at square 1. After some
more going trough the same old crap i realised i'd
connected + on O2 to + on A1 instead of out/- on A1,
changed that and all worked. 

Conclusion:
However exciting circuits may be, it might not allways
be too fruitful staying up until 4 in the morning each
day trying to understand things when you're obviously
*not* that intelligent. 

ummm....  guess what time it is right now and what i'm
doing....
