I remember ordering a back issue of Polyphony.  I wasn't sure of the
shipping charges, so on my lunch hour I rang up PAiA.  This guy answered the
phone - sounded like he was having a hard time talking, and he apologized,
saying he'd just had his teeth worked on.

I asked my question and he said "Don't worry about it, if anyone asks, just
tell'em John said it was OK".

I thanked him then thought - "John?".

"Are you John Simonton?"

"Yes I am"

And the conversation continued a while longer.  Everyone was gone to lunch
and he was manning the phone, trapped by me.....

PAiA was my first glimmer into building a synth.  The PAiA Gnome (may it
also rest in peace ) was my first attempt.  I live just a couple hours north
of PAiA, always wanted to drop by on my way through OKC.  Guess that chance
is gone now.  I know I'll miss the guy.
