  Dammit, we're just losing all the mentors in too short a time!  John's 
stuff is the first synthesizer gadgetry I ever built.  Oz in '75, Gnome 
in '77, That P-4700j thing in '79.  I even went to great length to 
restore the 4700j in later years (it is on John Paia "hall of fame" 
site); at least John got to see it.

  I don't care if John's hardware had cut corners.  It is where I 
started, and being able to afford the stuff on "lawn mowing money" 
pretty  much became the start of this EE career.  Next time I have a 
beer in hand, I'll tip it to John in thanks.
