Being a university professor is less of a traditional 9-to-5 job, and more 
like an all-encompassing lifestyle.

This is all part of getting ready for my "Theory and Design of Music 
Synthesizers" class. The only way I could make time to do such research 
was to make it part of my job. Since NSF is unlikely to be handing out 
grants on the topic, proposing a special topics class seemed like the way 
to go. I'm hoping to inspire people who would otherwise not ever get into 
SDIY to get into SDIY.
