Mouser sells the crimp-on DIP connectors, too. MUCH cheaper and you can
specify your own lengths. It's easier with a tool for crimping them down,
but it *can* be done with a vise - you just have to think it through and
make some tooling to keep the jaws of the vise away from the pins and in
between them. I use a vise, made a little tool i place between the pins to
keep them out of the crush. it works fine.
