For this a friend and I designed a little pcb that takes a digital potentiometer
and converts the dialing pulses into increment and decrement pulses realized
with analog switches - so you can plug the two sides of the analog switches in
parallel with the increment and decrement buttons of the synth.

The only thing you need to know is the time that is needed that the synth
recognizes the button press. This time has to be programmed into the
microcontroller on this little PCB.

I wanted to make a version with a little trimpot to set the time per
potentiometer but never made it happen.

Same here. So I designed my own midi interface... but it was quite
expensive due to special matrix circuits.
