[sdiy] Simple EGs and VCAs?

Could you please explain what the extra diode will improve? I've got a
bunch of old ssm and paia hex vcas in my modular, by far the weakest
link in my system. Just cant get rid of the little pip sound at the
start. Would like to replace them but cant bear the thought of building
more vcas that go pop, thud or pip.

For best results, add another diode in series with D2
