If you want/need Midi functionality, I´d suggest the (now discontinued)
MAM SQ16. Its a nice Midi Stepsequencer with 13 so-called Instrument
tracks (you now... for them BEATS) and 3 additional note tracks
(basslines and such).
I like it for its ease of use in a live environment and also it allows
for a fair amount of complexity - it can store different Midi setups,
Step sets, has Rotate, Midi delay, an arpeggiator etc etc... I like it.
Its only a shame they didnt put a Shuffle in there, though....
