Hi Logan,
I built a weird 555 based vco once that I adapted from a circuit in the
Electronotes preferred circuit collection. I personally liked the way it
sounded, but everyone's right when they say it pulls way too much current.
if you go with a 555 circuit, use the cmos variety 7555.
regards,
Mike

Subject: [sdiy] VCO IC's usage inquiry

I am constructing my own synthesizer and am using the 555 IC Timer chip
for my VCO's. Is it better to use the 555 or something like the 741 or other
op amps for a VCO ?
