Hello Harry,

Yes, that's kind of what I was thinking.  I have done something like that in 
the past to achieve clock rate doubling and quadrupling.  You just have to set 
the R/C delay to a time constant that's faster than the fastest possible 
input clock, right?  I built a similar circuit into a few LinnDrums, which were 
expecting 48 clocks per quarter note, allowing them to slave to a Roland 24PPQN 
DIN Sync clock.  I even cascaded doubler stages and made it work as a clock 
quadrupler with some mid-80's Oberheim drum machines and sequencers (DMX, DX, 
DSX), which were expecting 96 clock pulses per quarter note.  It actually worked 
remarkably well -- even better than I expected.  I thought it might 
occasionally lose sync or skip beats, but it never did, as far as I can recall.  I'll 
have to dig up the diagram for that old circuit -- it's been about 20 years!
