Just needing to use a magnifier or microscope to position grain-of-sand
electronics might not seem so bad when one considers that this is tech
I have seen gradually maturing over 25 years or so. I've seen SMT work
in DEC computers from  the late '70s, early '80s.

Then zip ahead and read up on recent work in the miniaturization of
electronics, and challenges of manufacturing. Kids born these days are
going to have much weirder workbenches than we do!
