Yes, the sizes are listed in mils (.001"). The common sizes for small
passives are
1812
1210
1206
0805
0402
0201
01005
There are caps and power components bigger than 1812s, but they're rare. To
tell you the truth, I think after 01005s, the next miniaturization step will
need to be some sort of 'grow your own' custom chip where you would create
and test the circuit in a computer and the create that in a custom chip.
This is just MHO, and maybe something like this is decades off, but I think
it'd be cool.
