He is my all-time favourite synth artist.<<
Nearly everybody who's been invovled with synths since the 70 - 80's is
plenty familiar with Tomita. He is required listening. Unfortunately
today, we're dealing with a generation according to the television news who
don't even know who the Beatles or Rolling Stones were. So it's no wonder
they don't know who Tomita was. You've got people who won't look backward
in time no matter what, and that's why we're in the hole we're in now.

>>On the Analog Heaven list, I posted an MP3 I did using my modular and Korg
Oasys PCI. Given the little response I had (one!), I tried to remain true to
Tomita's sounds in that I used my modular for all sounds that (I think) he
used modular gear to create. The other sounds (various string sounds, choir
mostly) are from my Korg Oasys.<<
I of course commented on it the first time you sent me the link. It's one
of the best things I've heard posted. Had Konkuro still been around I would
have sent him the link as I'm sure he would have liked it too.

>>I didn't realise Tomita was so little known. Or maybe I'm a freak since
he's one of my favourites. I listen to him since childhood. His works may
apprear simple to some, but have climate never found elsewhere. I only have
4 or 5 CDs and maybe I'll get more sometime.<<
Works appear simple? Quite the opposite for his big orchestral synth
transcriptions.
