I absolutely agree on that. In fact, it's *much* easier to desolder 
SMD parts compared to their thru-hole counterparts. 74HC245 -- put a 
blob of solder on both sides, heat it up and just pull off the part. 

Now do the same with a 2-layer thru-hole PCB.

We should start complaining, when there's only BGA around. But SO and 
QFP are quite nice to handle.
