Back before sound cards were popular, there were instructions on how to make
an 8 bit d/a dongle for the parallel port so you could play music. It wasn't
bad. There is no reason why a 16 bit one couldn't be done, using a couple of
the different strobe/select lines to latcht he two DACs. Have a look at my
web page in the "other projects" section for a rather more complex parallel
port adapter. The info there may be of help.
