You wanna talk about cheap meters?  I have sitting here a "Cen-Tech" unit, 
which includes the usual multimeter stuff and also a transistor test socket, 
purchased at Harbor Freight,  their item number 30756 -- for $3.98!  At that 
price I bought two of them.  :-)
