Philips used them in some early tape recorders. the idea was to save having an output transformer, you had a push-pull going thru this. (I havn't seen the 2600 circuit though). Any speaker recoil person could be forced to rewind a suitable size/shape speaker, it is just more turns of thinner wire, after all. paul perry Melbourne AUstralia
