Oftentimes, when I remember to send it to the group, I forget to edit
the header to not send the copy to the sender as
well... absentmindedness, or a result of having used too much lead
solder over the years? :-)

I second that. It's a nuisance to hit 'r' to reply to the message,
then compose a message, get ready to send it, then realize that I
forgot to hit 'g' for a group reply, then have to save the text to a
file and start over again with the reply... then have to edit the
header to remove the additional reply to the sender. Of course, it
is a good way to lower traffic on the list. :-)
