Not to mention UPSs and alarm systems and all sorts of other applications. I 
used to be in that business.  Not one single lead-acid battery went out of 
the store without one coming in as a "core" or "junker".  I don't know about 
other manufacturers,  but we handled a lot of Exide batteries and they were 
shooting for 100% recycled materials.  Why do you think the cases on them are 
mostly black?
