Ha!
I remember in ~8th grade I was supposed to do a book report on a book
written about colonial life in New England, and had forgotten about it. 5
minutes before the class I scanned through the book and caught a section
describing the lead roofing. That surprised me so much that I just did my
book report write-up on it. It was new to the teacher too and so he gave me
an A in the report. It taught me never to give up on stuff like that -
always try something and maybe it'll get you by.

If you guys in the UK STILL have lead roofing, well, your government
probably just doesn't want you to know the truth about lead poisoning :-)

Lead free roofs? In UK (and other countries?) there is a huge amount of
lead used for flashing on roofs. I would say that there is very much
more lead in most people's roofs than in their entire collection of
electronics, fishing, etc. equipment.

But perhaps this is less a problem because (in theory at least) it
should not end up in landfill - I would imagine that builders are meant
to dispose of it properly when it is replaced .. whether they do or not
is a different matter...
