I came across a company called Rochester Electronics at the Embedded Systems
Conference in San Francisco. They indicated they can manufacture "obsolete"
parts and have access to designs from several current and defunct
manufacturers we all know. All you need is some kind of volume
commitment....

Heh, me too, but even the Chinese need a market to support that
activity. I think there are too few of "us" to make such a market. The
electronic musical instrument manufacturing industry is clearly not
interested in making analog synths.
