[sdiy] searching for some gems

Hi all,

I been working in the engineering department at one of the local
universities for the past 6 months or so, and there are these two tubs of
1000s of different semiconductors kinda sorted in bags that were donated by
some guy who closed up his dick smith store bout ten years ago. Most of the
stuff is useless for what we do at the uni, all I've fished out and used in
the job is voltage regulators, 741s and bc548 transistors. I been told by my
superiors "if there is anything you may find useful in there, feel free to
take it."

So far I found:
5 or so LM394CH (NPN pair in CAN pkg)
9 2N2642 (NPN pair in CAN pkg)
4 2N5546 (FET pair in CAN pkg)
2 2N3955 (FET pair in CAN pkg)
the above were easy to spot cause of there 6 leg pkg.
5 LM394CN (NPN pair in DIP pkg)
6 LM13600AN (whats the difference between the N and the AN suffix?)
	9 LM3080N

Anyways, what I would like to ask the list, are there any specific parts I
should keep my eyes out for when going through it all? I know there is a lot
of worthless stuff in there, but I also know there is some gems in there
with it, unfortunately I'm not really too sure what else to look for. A lot
of it looks like radio, tv and vcr repair type stuff. There is linear (small
signal and power), discrete and digital stuff all mixed in together.

cheers.
ben

p.s. there are no SSM or CEM types in there.
